ALISON HOPE CLINCKE (nee LEARMONTH) Alison passed away peacefully at Riverview Health Centre, with her family by her side, on Monday, August 8, 2011, after a short illness. Alison was predeceased by her son Matthew; her nephew David McEwan; sisters Jean and Rosemary Learmonth; twin sister Betty McEwan, and brother Donald. She is survived by her husband Lucian; son Mark (Kathy); grandchildren, Karen and Steven Clincke; brothers-in-law Wallace McEwan and Les Karakas, and nieces Megan (Ron) and Jennifer (John). Alison was born in Gogama, Ontario, where her father was Factor for the Hudson's Bay Company. The family lived at various Hudson's Bay posts until they moved to Winnipeg. Alison and Lucian were married in 1954. They travelled frequently to White Rock, BC to visit Betty and her family and to Ottawa to visit Rosemary and other relatives. They also travelled to Scotland, England and spent some time in Belgium with Lucian's extended family. In keeping with Alison's wishes, cremation has taken place and a memorial mass celebrating her life will be held on Friday, August 12 at 11:00 a.m. in Mary, Mother of the Church, 85 Kirkbridge Drive. If friends wish, memorial donations may be made in Alison's memory to the Winnipeg Humane Society, 45 Hurst Way, Winnipeg, MB R3T 0R3 or a charity of one's choice. The family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to the doctors, nurses and staff of 3 East Riverview Health Care for their tender care and compassion.
