MATTIAUS LUCAS DOCOUTO It is with our heaviest of hearts that we announce the passing of our precious miracle, Mattiaus, on Saturday, August 6, 2011. Mattiaus was born on August 24, 2010 with Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia (CDH). From the moment he arrived, he was a fighter; he had so much strength, determination and a willingness to live. Mattiaus blessed us, his parents, Angela and Tony, with 11 months of joy, happiness and pure, unconditional love. He taught us how to live fully each day. We are forever grateful to God for this time with him. Mattiaus is greeted in Heaven by his grandmother Avo Maria DoCouto; great-grandfathers, Nicholas Suchynsky and Stanley Malchuk, and great-grandparents Amelia and Arturo Janeiro and Alcidia and Mariano DoCouto. In addition to his parents, Mattiaus is survived by his grandparents, Baba Nadia Malchuk, Gido Myron Malchuk, and AvĂ´ Albano DoCouto; great-grandmothers Baba Stella Suchynsky and Baba Alice Malchuk; uncle and godfather Michael Malchuk; aunty and godmother Susie Phillips; aunty and uncle, Sandi and Brad Saluk; cousins Kyle, Evan and Logan; and many, many other relatives and friends who loved Mattiaus very much. We do not have enough words of thanks and gratitude for all of the prayers, good thoughts and well wishes for Mattiaus. We are also so very grateful to all his caregivers: the St. Boniface General Hospital NICU; Children's Hospital PICU; Dr. Burym; Dr. Wiseman; and all his specialists and therapists hold a very special place in our hearts. You all helped Mattiaus in his times of need and allowed him to overcome incredible odds to spend 11 months with us here on Earth; to watch him grow, see his beautiful, large dark eyes and amazing smile, and to be in the presence of a living angel. Prayers will be sung on Friday, August 12, 2011, 7:00 p.m. at St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church, 737 Bannerman Ave. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated Saturday, August 13, 2011 at 10:30 a.m., also at St. Nicholas Church. Father Zachary Shwaluk, OSBM will be officiating and helping us say our final good-byes. In lieu of flowers, in memory of Mattiaus, donations may be made to the St. Boniface General Hospital Foundation, NICU Fund and / or the Children's Hospital Foundation of Manitoba, PICU Fund. Our Mattiaus is now our angel in Heaven; he has touched the hearts of many, and has earned his wings. We love you so very much Mattiaus, and your memories will remain with us forever and ever.
