RUTH WALTZ (JOHNSON) In loving memory of Ruth Waltz who passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on July 19, 2011 in Palmetto, Florida. Born February 26, 1923 in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Ruth lived most of her life in Winnipeg, Manitoba. She was an avid golfer and curler and member of the Rossmere Golf and Country Club in Winnipeg. She was an active member of John Black Memorial United Church where she served as secretary and was a long time member of the choir. She married Bob Johnson in 1942, living and raising their family in East Kildonan until retiring to Palmetto, Florida in 1978. In 1985, after the passing of her first husband, she married Jim Waltz of Attica, Ohio. They continued to live in Palmetto where she remained active in the Leisure Lake community. Ruth was predeceased by her husbands, Bob Johnson and Jim Waltz, youngest son Ken, brother Charlie Platt, sisters-in-law Jean Platt and Grace Binder, brother-in-law Cy Binder and nephew Bill Platt. She is lovingly remembered and survived by her son Jim (Margie) Johnson, daughters Joanne (Jim) Wachal and Lynne (Bob) Rehbein, daughter-in-law Veronica Johnson, stepson Carl (Sandy) Waltz, stepdaughters Carol (John) Helbling and Donna (Gerald) Detterman as well as her significant other Art Solomonian and his family. She is also affectionately remembered by her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. We honour and remember her legacy for teaching us to love one another and live life to the fullest. Rest in peace. We love you. Memorial services will be held Friday, August 19, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. at John Black Memorial United Church, 898 Henderson Hwy.
