MARJORIE LEONA HOWATT (nee ARGUE) On Monday, July 11, 2011 Marjorie passed away peacefully at the Glenboro Personal Care Home at the age of 96. Marjorie leaves to mourn son Charles (Bernie) of Winnipeg, daughters Janice Ferguson of Edmonton, and Judy Douglas of Red Deer, seven grandchildren, nine great- grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and friends. She was predeceased by her husband Jack (2005), parents Nicholas and Mary (nee Cavanagh) Argue and nine brothers and sisters. Marjorie was born in Clearwater, Manitoba on August 17, 1914 and was the baby of the family with nine older brothers and sisters. She met Jack when he was employed there, and they were married in 1938. The family moved to Glenboro in 1951 where Jack began a new assignment with Pool Elevators. She was a stay at home mom until the children were older and she then went to work as a receptionist for Dr. Jemson at the Glenboro Hospital. She worked many years for Dr. Jemson and thoroughly enjoyed it. After they both retired, they travelled extensively from east coast to west coast and from Alaska to Hawaii. They particularly enjoyed their winters in Victoria, BC with many of the same people for years. Marjorie was an avid curler and her biggest trophy was winning the Ladies Zone when she curled third for Lovie Johnson. She was also a big baseball fan, and her and Jack would spend many summer Sundays at a baseball tournament somewhere. She was also involved in many community activities. Marjorie was a wonderful mother, mother-in-law, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her family meant everything to her and she was always there to help when needed. They both loved to be with their grandchildren, and they volunteered a lot of time to caring for them which was very much appreciated. She is gone now to be reunited with her husband Jack, whom she dearly missed. We know that she will be so peaceful and that she will be smiling down on us. She will be dearly missed but never forgotten. Celebration of life will be held on Friday, August 19, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. in the Glenboro United Church with Phyllis Mulligan officiating. Reception at the C.E. Building followed by internment at Clearwater cemetery. If friends so desire, donations may be made to the Glenboro and Area Foundation, Health Care Designation, Box 147, Glenboro, Manitoba, R0K 0X0 or to a charity of your choice.
