GEORGE DE MOISSAC Died suddenly at his home August 9, 2011, at the age of 64. He will be deeply missed by his wife Bonnie (Ellacott), and his two sons, Daniel Georges and Richard (Ricky) Marc, his mother-in-law Reta Ellacott, brothers and sisters-in-law Bruce Ellacott of Ottawa, Brenda Rose of Cambridge, Betty Mulder of Toronto, Brian Ellacott (Angela) of Cleveland, Barb (Ray) Pilon of Chatham, Brent (Wendy) of Calgary, Bradley Ellacott of Montreal, and many nieces and nephews that he loved dearly, by his cousins Andy (Brenda) de Moissac, Jeanette (Lawrence) Zirk, Roger Brunet (Dawn Bryan), numerous cousins of the de Moissac, Laroix (BC) and Brunet families, and by many dear and cherished friends. He was predeceased by his mother, Alma (Levasseur) of La Salle, his father, Henri of Ste. Agathe and his brother-in-law Barry Ellacott. George was a kind soul. Everyone who knew him recognized that behind his often gruff exterior, was a soft, compassionate and very generous character. He excelled at gardening with prize roses, liked fishing and woodworking and, above all, good music. George reveled in a good laugh and would, at every opportunity, play tricks or scheme jokes with friends and his colleagues at Manitoba Justice where he was a crown attorney for over 30 years. His greatest love was for his family. George delighted in the pursuits of his two sons, in particular their shared passion for music. He taught them so many things, with his formidable intellect, how to think, by being honourable as he was, to a fault, how to live and by sprinkling the dust of laughter, how to mix it up each and every day. A celebration of his life will be held at Desjardins Funeral Home on Tuesday, August 16 at 2:00 pm. Ring the bells that still can ring Forget your perfect offering There is a crack, a crack in everything That's how the light gets in. Condolences & Memories (5 entries)

  • I miss George had a beautiful dream of him last night. I was honored to have met him and work with him in Pine Falls. We’d listen to music in his old white van. He believed in my work towards restorative justice. Prayers in heaven my dear friend. - Posted by: Mare McAuley (Friend ) on: Feb 14, 2024

  • So sorry Bonn, just catching up with things. - Posted by: bill brenko (friend) on: Nov 24, 2019

  • I met George when his father died; met his mother, Alma, around the same time ... helped her carry groceries home - she liked me after that. I remember mostly the great conversations and arguments and all that jazz. Politics, philosophy, music and everything ... strange thing, though. I left Winnipeg in 1966 (coming back a couple of times), wrote or spoke to George a number of times, but about 2 or 3 times a week since he died George comes ferociously or just chillin' into my dreams. I think I must have wanted to speak to him again - perhaps for a while - but didn't get the chance. Too bad. - Posted by: Craig McGuire (Friend) on: Aug 12, 2015

  • A truly honourable man and professional that I had the distinct pleasure to work with. My condolences to the family - Posted by: Rheal Gravel (RCMP power view Manitoba 1995-2002) on: Sep 05, 2013
