GEORGE HERBERT STUART George Stuart passed away, peacefully, on June 21 at the Kin Place Personal Care Home in Oakbank, Manitoba. George was born on May 22, 1918 in Grimsby, Ontario to Sam and Margaret Stuart. He is predeceased by three brothers and a sister, Bill, Ernest and Neil, and sister Evelyn. George moved to Manitoba in 1940 when he joined the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, married his first wife Gwen in 1945 (who predeceased him in 1981) and had an exemplary career serving in many Manitoba communities including Souris, McCreary, Carberry, Minnedosa, Brandon, The Pas and Headingley, retiring with the rank of Sergeant in 1966, to Brandon, Manitoba, where he assumed the duties of Sheriff of the Western Manitoba Judicial District, shortly thereafter. George remarried in 1984 to Evelyn Charnock, then retired from the Sheriff's position in 1985 and enjoyed many wonderful years travelling the world with Eve, who predeceased him in 2008. George was a gentleman in the true sense of the word. He had a love for animals, especially cats, and a love for music especially the harmonica. George is survived by three sons, Jack and wife Dorothy in Calgary, Alberta, Bruce and wife Merrilee in Victoria, BC, and Neil (Charnock) and wife Cathy in Oakbank, Manitoba. He is also survived by eight grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, sisters-in-law Mae and Georgina and several nieces and nephews as well as many loving friends. Friends may join in a celebration of George's life on Saturday, August 20 at the Royal Oak Inn in Brandon, 3130 Victoria Avenue at 11:00 a.m. The family would like to thank the staff at the Kinplace Personal Care Home for their wonderful care of George over the past three years.
