Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryALFRED ROY It is with deep sadness that the family announces the peaceful passing of Alfred Roy; beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend, from St. Jean Baptiste, MB, at the Emerson Personal care Home on August 12, 2011. Alfred leaves to cherish his memory, his dear wife of 35 years Marguerite Berard (nee Gauthier), five children Diane (Ron) Girardin, Elaine (Richard) Sabourin, Doreen (Paul) Payette, Norm (Barb) Roy, Joey Roy, three stepchildren Gerald (Diane) Berard, Richard (Viviane) Berard, Yves (Carol) Berard, 18 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. Alfred was predeceased by his first wife of 32 years Amy (nee Valcourt), parents Achille Roy and Eugenie Marion, son Joseph (at birth), sister Yvonne Gauthier, brothers Denis and Gerard. Surviving siblings are, Theodore (Cathy) Roy, Albert (Tilly) Roy, Rene (Sally- deceased) Roy, Paul (Lorraine) Roy, Gilbert Roy, sister-in-law Valerie Roy and one sister Yvette (Matt-deceased) Narog. Alfred was born August 20, 1916 in St. Jean Baptiste, MB. In the 1940s he founded the A. Roy Trading Co. Ltd. and went on to form Roy Legumex Inc. in the 1980s. He loved every aspect of agriculture, enjoyed travelling, was a devoted fan of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, certainly cheered for the Toronto Blue Jays, and could be found almost daily playing rummy with his many friends at Le Club des Pionniers. Alfred was also an active member of the fourth degree Knights of Columbus. The family wishes to thank the staff at the Emerson Personal Care Home for their care and compassion over the past four and a half years. Funeral mass will be held Wednesday August 17, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. preceded by a eulogy at 1:45 p.m. at the St. Jean Baptiste Roman Catholic church, interment to follow at the St. Jean Baptiste Cemetery.
