EMILIA MUZYCZKA Emily Muzyczka passed peacefully on August 12, 2011 at the age of 86. She was predeceased by her husband Frank Muzyczka, brother Prokop Shelesta, sister Sophie Skryp and daughter Irene. She is survived by her children, Romka Dziedzic (Richard) and Wally Muzyczka; sister Joanne Lushchyk; grandchildren, Pam Perreault (Maurice), Lisa Dziedzic (Chris McDonald), Alex Muzyczka (Dana) and Monica Muzyczka (Jason Pelletier); and great-grandchildren, Kieran, Devin, Malakai, Frankie and Vada. Emily was born in Boratyn, Poland on October 14, 1924. Growing up in the same village, Emily and Frank met at a young age and wed on June 20, 1942. They then moved to Munich, Germany for work. In 1949 the couple immigrated to Canada, first to Brandon, then to Winnipeg a year later. After building their own home, Emily and Frank focused on strengthening their roots. They believed strongly in the spirit of community and embraced their neighbourhood, helping friends and neighbours whenever the opportunity arose. They were founding parishioners of St. Joseph's Ukrainian Catholic Church and would frequently support the church as well as local institutions like Seven Oaks Hospital. Emily was a kind and cultivating soul whose first love was her family, followed by her garden. She spent her life in service to her family, working hard to nurture and shape them. She was exceptionally organized and had the remarkable ability to make something out of nothing, whether it was her large garden, a family meal, or even a sewing project. Emily was an accomplished seamstress, embroiderer, cook and decorator, and everyone who met her was touched in some way by her prodigious talents. In later years, Emily was affected by Alzheimers; though however irregular her memory became, her personality remained strong. Her family thanks the staff at Holy Family Nursing Home for the tender care and comfort provided to her. Prayers will be held on Tuesday, August 16 at 7:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated on Wednesday, August 17 at 9:30 a.m. at St. Joseph's Ukrainian Catholic Church, 250 Jefferson Avenue with interment to follow at All Saints Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Seven Oaks Hospital. I have made a universe with flowers, let My beloved come into My garden. CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 586-8044
