GREGORY CECIL JONES 1953 2011 With great sadness and heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our husband, father, and grandpa. Born June 25, 1953, Greg passed away peacefully on August 13, 2011, in Stonewall, Manitoba, at the age of 58. He leaves to mourn his wife Donna (nee Malmas) of 38 years, daughter, Candy (Wayne) Skyhar, grandsons Dawson and Zachary, aunt Ethel (Oscar), brother Rod, and sisters Val (Henry) Schroeder and Cindy (Gary) Burak and their families. He was predeceased by his parents Cecil and Lillian Jones (nee Johnson) in 1973, and his uncle Jim Halldorson. Greg grew up in Warren, MB, and lived there for 23 years with his wife and daughter. In 1996, they moved to Sylvan Lake, AB, where they lived for 11 years, before returning to Stonewall, MB, in 2007, to be closer to family and friends. Greg played baseball and hockey in the Warren/Grosse Isle/Stonewall area for a number of years, and was an avid outdoorsman and hunter. He loved the autumn, and couldn't wait to see the leaves change color each year. He enjoyed riding his A.T.V. with his son-in-law and grandsons, and had begun building a hunting cabin with his family. Greg also loved classic muscle cars, and enjoyed attending car shows. He was an accomplished salesman, and was well respected in his field. Always a man of honesty and integrity, Greg received many national sales awards, and enjoyed developing relationships with his clients. Jonesy had many friends in Manitoba and Alberta that he kept in touch with over the years. Friends were very important to him, and he could always be counted on, to help out someone in need, tell a funny joke, or deliver a classic Jonesy saying. A celebration of life was held at MacKenzie Funeral Chapel on Wednesday, August 17. Thank you to eulogist Val Schroeder; honourary pallbearers and eulogists Jim Beachell and Bill Murphy; pallbearers Randy Dreger, Campbell Forsyth, Aaron Forsyth, Darryl Sigurdson, Chuck Lefley, and Bernie Van Kemenade; and the MacKenzie Funeral Chapel. The family would also like to thank Cst. Dyment, Cst. Gauthier, Eirik Bardal, and Mona Johnson for their help and compassion during this difficult time. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of your choice. MacKenzie Funeral Home, Stonewall in care of arrangements
