FRANCES ELIZABETH GRAY Passed away peacefully at the Rockyview General Hospital in Calgary after a lengthy illness on August 9, 2011 at the age of 87 years. Betty was born in Melfort, SK to Roy and Edith Merifield, but lived in various towns including Kinistino and Rocanville where Roy practiced medicine. Betty moved to Winnipeg to attend the University of Winnipeg, and after completing Social Work, worked for the Children's Aid. In 1951 she married Jim Gray whom she enjoyed almost 58 years of marriage with. In 1953 she had a son, Ken and in 1958 another son, John. 1955 saw the family move to Lundar, MB to open Lundar Drugs where Jim (and to a large extent Betty) practiced pharmacy until 1974. They had many fond memories of their years in Lundar. Retirement took them back to Winnipeg, where Jim passed in 2009. Shortly after Betty moved to Calgary to be closer to her sons. Betty was predeceased by Jim, but is survived by her sons, Ken (Linda) of Vancouver and John (Deb) of Calgary. She will be fondly remembered by her family and friends as a generous and caring person. There will be no Service, but a private celebration of Betty's life will be held at Rae Jerry's restaurant on August 27 from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. Family and friends are encouraged to attend and share their memories of Betty. Those wishing to commemorate Betty's life, may do so by making a contribution in her name to the Siloam Mission.
