C.J. (CASEY) BIALEK 1932 - 2011 It is with great sadness that we announce the death of our father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Casimer Joseph Bialek or Casey as he liked to be called passed peacefully with his family by his side early in the morning of Sunday, August 14, 2011. He was 79 years old. Casey is survived by his wife Jean, son Frank (Gail), and daughters Susan Kuzina, Jackie Porco (Michael), Joanne Diakiw (David), and Noreen Melsted (Richard), 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild, his sister Mary and brother Albert. He was predeceased by his parents Tom and Julia Bialek and sisters Joyce and Ann. Casey was born in the small town of Hazelridge, MB on April 23, 1932. He was schooled in that town with the exception of Grade 12 which he took in Arborg, MB. In 1960 Casey married the love of his life, Jean Dziedzic and went on to raise a family. Although Casey had many jobs, the bulk of his career was spent at the CBC where he worked as a Radio Technician from 1964 until he retired in 1991. Casey's second biggest love was music. Learning on home-made instruments crafted by his father, Casey could play just about every instrument he cared to pick up. He spent many years writing music and playing his bass violin professionally from the dance halls of Winnipeg to CJOB to KCND in Pembina, ND. He eagerly included his family in living room jam sessions where we happily participated in the chorus. He passed this love onto his children and grandchildren with whom he spent countless hours playing and singing. With the onset of his illness, Dad could no longer play the music he loved but he hummed and sang and listened until his last moments. Casey's family would like to thank the doctors and staff at Victoria General Hospital 4 South and Golden Door Geriatric Centre for their care and compassion. Memorial service will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 18, 2011 at Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd., Winnipeg, Manitoba. Interment will follow in Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, please forward donations to CancerCare Manitoba or the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba. Family and friends may sign a Book of Condolence at www.glenlawn.ca.
