CHARLOTTE BETTRIDGE ROGERS March 24 1910 - August 13 2011 Passed away peacefully at Victoria General Hospital at the age of 101. Predeceased by her husband of 53 years, Howard in 1993 and son Norman in 2007. Left to cherish her memory are, son Mel (Isabelle), grandchildren Kelly (Rob), Michael (Allison) of Winnipeg; daughter- in-law Joan, and grandchildren Kimberly (Murray) Christine (Pat), Paul of Alberta; 10 great-grandchildren; sister Betty of Sydney, Ohio and sister-in-law Elva of Cartwright, MB and a wonderful circle of extended family and friends. Charlotte was born to Scottish immigrants, Alexander and Annie McDonald on the family homestead near Holmfield, MB. She taught in several rural schools and married Howard Rogers of Wawanesa in 1940. They first lived in Glass and Transcona and then moved to Fort Garry where they raised their two sons, Norman and Mel. Charlotte was a member of the Sunshine Rebecca Lodge, the Fort Garry United Church, and an over thirty year volunteer at Victoria Hospital. Charlotte was a vibrant people person and had a special ability to engage with friends and family of all ages. She lived her last years at Riverwood Square in her much loved community of Fort Garry. She was assisted by the caring staff of Chopin House and close family members to remain physically active until her health deteriorated over the last months. The family also thanks the Fort Gary United Church pastoral ministry and the ladies of the Pembina Curling Club for their continued support for Charlotte. A celebration service will be held at Fort Garry United Church, 800 Point Road on Saturday, August 20 at 1:30 p.m. with Thompson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
