SIMONE CARNEY (nee LEGARE) Peacefully, in the early morning hours of August 16, our mother, Simone (Legare) Carney, aged 94, passed away at Tache Centre. She will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her children, sons and daughters-in-law. She is survived by children, Kathleen (David), Ray (Kitty), Maurice (Yoanna), Janine (Fletcher) and Jocelyne (Michael), adored grandchildren Patric, James, Jason, Andy, Alex, Jean, Max, Andre, Stephane, Therese, Clara, Jacinta, Anne and Brigitte, and by her very special great- grandchildren Leonard (L.J.) Smith, and Christian and Colin Fox. Mum is also survived by her sister Therese Lavoie (Athanase), and brothers Fernand Legare (Orise), Charles Legare and Camille Legare. Mum was predeceased in 1993 by our father Gerry Carney, who she married in May, 1944, and by her sisters Jeanne and Germaine, and brothers Raymond, Roger and Jules. Mum was born in Dunrea, Manitoba on June 3, 1917 to Emma and Lucien Legare. After high school, Mum moved to Winnipeg, where she worked in the lab at St. Boniface Hospital. She made many warm friendships there that she maintained for life. After she and dad married, they moved to St. Vital and then later to Transcona. Wherever she lived, Mum was a central part of her church and community. Several years ago, Mum moved to Tache Centre due to increasing health issues and the onset of Alzheimer's disease. The family is very thankful to the many extraordinary staff members at Tache for making her years there so comfortable and pleasant. Funeral Mass will be celebrated by Fr. Leonce Aubin at 10:00 a.m. Friday, August 19, at Notre Dame de l'Assomption Church, 609 Leola St. Should friends so desire, a donation to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba, 10 - 120 Donald Street, Winnipeg, MB, R3C 4G2 may be made in her name. Mum was a kind, quiet, gracious and compassionate person, a loving wife and a dedicated mother who often stayed up late making cookies and costumes. She was the ultimate adoring grandmother. We will all miss her terribly. LECLAIRE BROTHERS in care of arrangements.
