Thelma was born in the St. Anthony's Hospital, The Pas, Manitoba on March 25, 1957 to Maria Audy (Chartrand) of Duck Bay, Manitoba and William Audy of Shoal River, Manitoba. Our mother Thelma Awoyemi was a very active, busy, caring, generous, loving woman. She was devoted to her family, the church, and the community. She loved to travel, her road trips consisted of Walt Disney World, New Orleans, Kansas, Houston, Grand Forks, Fargo, Minneapolis, Toronto, Edmonton, Calgary, Banff and Jasper. She even went across the sea to Johannesburg, South Africa. Thelma worked for the Manitoba Associated of Native Languages, Sapotaweyak Health Authority and Neil Dennis Kematch School. At the Health Authority she initiated AA meetings and the Mother's and Father's Day walks. Thelma was always full of the Christmas spirit; she would make Christmas for the kids very special by decorating her house inside and out, always overfilled the tree with gifts, and always had plenty of food for everyone. Within the family she initiated the Children's Christmas Eve party where Santa would come for a special visit to the Audy's house and hand every child of the family a gift. She was a leader in the family for celebrating successes, birthdays, anniversaries and many other special occasions. For every Mother's Day, she would ensure she bought a gift for her daughters, sisters and mother. We'll never forget her contagious laugh. She was so generous; she would give you her last pair of shoes if needed Lucy Genaille.
