CHARLES JOHN ELLIOTT Sadly on August 17, 2011 we lost a very special husband, father, papa, brother-in-law, uncle and friend, Charlie Elliott, at the age of 66. Charlie's life began on a little farm in Little Britain with his parents Freda and Fritz Wollwitch. At a very young age, he learnt about the beauty and simplicity of country life. These special years left Charlie with many wonderful stories and memories which he shared and passed on to his children, grandchildren, family and friends. Charlie is cherished and forever missed by his best friend and wife of 40 years, Donna; daughters, Dana (Russ), Charlene (Cory), and his very special grandchildren, Savannah, Jaxon, Jayden and Cylie. Charlie will be remembered by his brothers-in-law Glen Ball and James Ball; sister-in-law Debbie; sister Laura Paradoski; special aunt Joyce Coldwell; cousins Joy and John Orsini, nephews, nieces, cousins and many friends that he touched over the years. Charlie was predeceased by his parents, Freda and Fritz Wollwitch; brother-in-law, Wally Paradoski; brother, Donald Elliott; sister-in-law Denise Ball; uncle Donald Coldwell, and his aunt Kay Lowes. After high school, Charlie went to Red River College to receive his journeyman license and apprenticed with Tony Paradoski at Tony's Electrical gaining valuable electrical experience. He wanted to further his experience and went to work for Dumbartin Mines as head electrician. Mining was a great job but not a future for him so he went to work as head electrician for Dynatron Industries. In 1972, Charlie accepted a position as supervisor for the Provincial Government which was a job he loved, he was well respected by his colleagues and remained there until his retirement. There wasn't a job that Charlie couldn't build, fix, or repair and each task needed hours of thought before it was started. He took pride in all his work and each job was done to perfection. Charlie was a jack of all trades, electrician by trade, plumber, carpenter, naturalist, and inventor. He passed on his love of the outdoors to his grandson, Jayden, as they spent many a wonderful time wondering through bushes, walking down trails and just out exploring the wilderness feeding the wild life. Despite many health challenges over the years, Charlie's determination, courage and optimism never allowed him to stop enjoying life to the fullest. He enjoyed his hunting, fishing, skidooing, his sports cars, golfing and most of all his family. He loved his four grand- children very much and loved when they came to visit. Charlie and Donna took many trips out to Ottawa to see their daughter and grand-children, to Thunder Bay, Lake of the Woods, and toured the east and west coasts. Charlie loved all sports, especially the Selkirk Steelers and rarely missed a game. He also loved his golfing tournaments with Bobby J and friends. In his later years, he enjoyed relaxing at home with Donna working in their yard and tending their gardens which were a delight to all their family and friends. Charlie was a member of St. Clements Church and sat on the vestry for several years. He also sat on the maintenance committee overseeing many projects done to the church such as the interior painting of the church, hanging and repairing of all the lights and the installation of the new roof. At Charlie's request, sincere and heartfelt thanks go to all his coffee buddies at McDonalds. He valued your friendship very much. Many thanks goes out to all the doctors and nurses at the Selkirk General Hospital. At Charlie's request, cremation has taken place and a service of remembrance will take place on Monday, August 22 at 11:00 a.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel, Selkirk with Rev. Mawejje officiating. In lieu of flowers, it is respectfully requested that a donation be made to the Cancer Society or the Children's Wish Foundation. Charlie you were my rock, my companion, my best friend and my life. Sleep well my love and we will soon be together again to garden and enjoy life's little pleasures. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements. www.gilbartfuneralhome.com
