Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryPETER WIWCHARYK 1923 - 2011 With great sadness and heavy hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of our husband, father, Gido, and great-Gido. Peter passed away at Bethesda Hospital on August 17, 2011, at the age of 88 years. Missing and loving him is his wife of 60 years, Mary, along with his children, Patsy and husband Dave, grandchildren, Denise and Maryanne; Kevin and wife Zhinous, and great-grandchildren, Keon and Kelden; Dennis and wife Brenda and grandchildren, Jeremy and Jorden: Debbie and husband Robert and grandchildren, Craig and wife Lisa, and Riley. He is also survived by one brother, John. He will also be greatly missed by his large extended family. Peter was predeceased by his parents, Harry and Dorothy, his in-laws Kazimer and Nellie Tysoski, sister Mary, brothers Mike and Bill, and son-in-law Dave. Peter was born in Zhoda, MB, on July 12, 1923. He was the third eldest of five children. He married Mary on November 18, 1950, and remained in Zhoda, where they farmed, raised a family, and built a lifetime of memories surrounded by family and friends. With great will, a strong work ethic, and dedication, Peter committed his life's work to being the best that he could be - as a veteran, lumberjack, farmer, bus driver, and avid community builder. With Mary at his side, they worked tirelessly in their community, caring for and about, the Zhoda Hall, church and cemetery. Dad's greatest joys in life were the times spent with family, fishing at the lake, cutting wood, and playing cards. He was a devoted husband, an enthusiastic outdoorsman, a supporter of his children's dreams and aspirations, and a faithful spectator of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren as they grew up through the years. Peter was a strong and quiet man; his heart was made of gold. He touched everyone that he met with his strength, dignity, and sense of humour. The next time that we meet, we will say hello and we will never have to say good-bye again. We love you very much and you will remain in our hearts forever. You may be gone, but you are not forgotten. Until we meet again, rest in peace. Vichnaya Pam'yat. Peter's family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Duerksen and the staff at the Bethesda Hospital, especially the caregivers on the second floor in the rehab unit, who were so wonderful with Dad in the past few weeks. Viewing will be held on Monday, August 22, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. with prayers to follow at 7:30 p.m., at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, 150 Penfeld Dr. Steinbach, MB. The funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, August 23, 2011, at 10:30 a.m. at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, with viewing at 10:00 a.m. Interment to follow at the Zhoda Community Cemetery. In Peter's memory and in lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations may be made to the Zhoda Community Cemetery, Box 13, Zhoda, MB, ROA 2P0 or the Bethesda Foundation 316 Henry Street Steinbach, MB, R5G 0P9. So sorry for your loss. I would have loved to know my uncle for he seems like he was a great man! Hopefully, I will someday get the opportunity to meet my family on my father's side (he is the youngest of the children, John). - Posted by: Kim Wiwcharyk (Niece (daughter of John Wiwcharyk, remaining sibling as of May 2012)) on: May 31, 2012
