DAISY GREGG (nee THOMPSON) Peacefully with her family by her side on August 15, 2011, Daisy passed away at River Park Gardens Personal Care Home. Daisy was born on June 1, 1930, the youngest child of Fanny and Samuel Thompson. Mom was predeceased by her father Samuel in 1949, her mother Fanny in 1983, husband Bob in 1995, and daughter Cheryl in 1956, as well as her four brothers, Allan (Baldy), John (Jake), Sam and Banks. She was also predeceased by a number of other relatives and friends. Mom will be missed dearly by her sister Ivy Peterson, her daughter Lauren and husband Bob, granddaughters Erin and Andrea and great-grandson Vince, her son Wade and wife Dru and granddaughters Tayler and Bryn. Also left to mourn her passing is several in-laws, as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. Mom was an athlete in her early years, and played baseball with the St. Vital Tigerettes. She was inducted to the Manitoba Softball Hall of Fame in 2004 along with her sister-in-law and best friend Jackie. During her baseball years, she met her future husband Bob when he assisted his brother Stuart with the coaching duties. Mom told stories of how the first time she met Dad she knew he was the man she was going to marry. She did on May 28, 1955 and they had 39 wonderful years together until Dad passed away suddenly. Mom stayed at home and raised a family. She gave birth to daughter Cheryl who passed away at age 29 days. She was then blessed with two other children, Lauren in 1957 and Wade in 1960. Mom took care of her mother from the time of her father's death in 1949 until Granny entered a personal care home shortly before her death. There were many fond memories of vacations at Grand Beach and Edmonton with Stu, Jackie, Ron and Jan. The Big Whiteshell was also another happy memory spending time with her sister Ivy and husband Henry at their cabin on the lake. Bowling with the CPR Supervisor's League and golfing at Cottonwood Country Club were some of her favourite pastimes. Many friends and family shared this with her. Her greatest pleasure was taking care of her four granddaughters. Grilled cheese and dill pickle sandwiches on the TV tables in the front room were her specialty according to the girls. We would like to express our heartfelt thanks to staff at Beacon Hill Lodge and especially the awesome staff at River Park Gardens for the exceptional care given to Mom during her long battle with Alzheimer's disease. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate your support for the Alzheimer Society or to River Park Gardens Resident Fund. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held and Church of the Good Shepherd at 673 Silverstone Avenue on Monday August 22, 2011 at 11:30 am with a reception to follow in the Parish Hall. A private family interment will take place at Waverley Memorial Gardens. THOMSON IN THE PARK 925-1120 Condolences may be sent to www.thomsoninthepark.com
