SARAH (SALLY) F. JONES 1927 - 2011 It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Sally passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on Friday, August 19, 2011. Sally leaves to mourn her children Corry (Debi), Donna (Bob), Shelagh (Dan), sister Kathleen Ellert, sister-in-law Dorothy McCorry and special friend Doreen Work. She is also survived by her seven grandchildren, Robyn, Delanie, Sarah, Danielle, Michael, Alana and Ben. Great Sally also leaves her nine great-grandchildren as well many nieces and nephews. Sally was predeceased her mother Mary Ellen and father James McCorry, husband McRae (Mac) Jones, sister Maureen Still and brother Chuck McCorry. Sally was born February 15, 1927 and was raised on the prairies of Transcona. She had a lifelong pride of her Irish heritage and loved to recite poetry and sing Irish songs. Sally enjoyed an extremely close relationship with her brother and two sisters and her day was not complete until she talked with her sister Kay. Our mother was a very caring, generous and loving soul, who gave her children unconditional love and support their whole life. Growing up she spent many happy summers at the family cottage at Nora Lake. These happy times continued with her children and grandchildren until her health prevented her from going. She loved nothing more than to sit in the sunroom and watch her grandchildren swimming at the beach. Each one of her children and grandchildren hold in their heart wonderful memories of those special times. Sally graduated from St. Mary's Academy and after that started her career in the banking industry in Toronto during the war years. In 1946 Sally met and married Mac and together raised their three children. Sally started with the Credit Union Central of Manitoba in 1965 and enjoyed a long and successful career, retiring as Banking Services Manager in 1992. The family would like to thank the wonderful medical staff of the Concordia Hospital ICU for the excellent care and compassion they showed our mother during her most difficult time. Cremation has taken place and a celebration of her life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 24, 2011 at Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. A private interment will be held at Transcona Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the CNIB or a charity of choice. Mommie, you never liked to have your three chicks too far from your nest. Even though you're gone we will always feel your presence and your arms surrounding us. Online condolences may be made at www.glenlawn.ca Glen Lawn Funeral Home 982-7550 glenlawn.ca
