LEONARD TOLPA 1940 - 2011 It is with great sadness to announce that Leonard Tolpa lost his strong battle to cancer with his family by his side. He was predeceased by his granddaughter Amberly Maria, mother Helen, father Stanley, and brothers Eddy and Stan. Left to cherish his memory are his wife Dianna, sons Mervin, David (Brenda), Gary, Brian (Laura), grandchildren, Janessa, Felicia, Anthony, Johnathon, Jason, and Ellie. Also left to mourn his passing are sisters Josephine, Violet (Gerald), Gloria (Peter), brother Richard, sisters-in-law Elaine and Judy as well as nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncle. Leonard was born at the Swan River Hospital July 18, 1940 and grew up in the Renwer area. His first job was cutting trees for Tony Lewicki at age 14. At 17 he worked on a steam engine and at 18 he went to Church Hill, MB to help in building the grain elevators. At age 23 he moved to Winnipeg. In 1965 he married the love of his life, Dianna in Flin Flon. They moved to Winnipeg where they resided for 31 years. They moved to Selkirk to a 40A farm where they have lived for 15 years. Leonard's passion in life was work, hunting, and his little farm of cattle and chicken. In 1963 he went to work for Amalgamated Construction. He stayed with them for 37 years as foreman and then his pride and joy came when he went to work alongside his sons, as a Rock Truck Operator. Leonard took little time to holiday, but when he did it was to Las Vegas, Florida, Houston and, Cuba. Funeral service will be held Thursday, August 25, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at Glen Eden Funeral Home. Interment and reception will follow. Viewing will take place one hour prior to the service. We would like to express our heartfelt thanks to the awesome staff at Selkirk General Hospital.
