WINIFRED MARIE KEEP (nee TINDALE) June 11, 1922 August 21, 2011 We are sad to announce the passing of Win Keep very much loved Mum, Grandma, Great- Grandma, Brown Owl, friend, neighbour, nature and animal lover. The end of her earthly existence will be deeply felt by her children, Charlie, (Ruth), Carol (Brian), Tim (Cathy), Tom, Elizabeth (Robert); her grandchildren Janice (Dan), Michael (Mel), Christine (John), Laura (Brant), Amy, Daniel, Brennan, Stephen, Jessica (Ray), Samantha and Rebecca; and by her many great-grandchildren all of whom were very special to her. Winifred was born within the sound of Bow Bells , London, England, June 11, 1922 - the first child of Charles and Anne Tindale. Her Cockney , South East English accent was a part of her tremendous charm. Predeceased by her parents and sister Beatrice, she is fondly remembered by her sister Florence and brothers Bill, Richard and Len (Gyliane, Marieve, Oliver, Ian, Deloris). In 1942 she married Canadian Soldier, Robert Harry Noble Keep. They had two children in England then moved to Bob's home town of Winnipeg, Canada where they had three more children and lived a full life in the Wolseley area. After 55 years of marriage, she lost her dear husband in 1997. Win belonged to the St. John's Ambulance, volunteered regularly for the Canadian Cancer Society and Heart and Stroke Foundation, was on the Home and School Board of Wolseley School, a Sunday School teacher at St. Patrick's Anglican Church on Valour Road and a Brown Owl (Girl Guide Leader) for many, many years. She was an avid cyclist, reader and swimmer and belonged to the Sherbrook Pool 100 mile club. She was the last surviving member of the Wild Women of Wolseley who stood together to save the famous Wolseley Elm. Winifred loved her dogs and all of nature...but most of all, she loved her family. Winifred touched the hearts of many with her beautiful blue eyes, brilliant smile and vibrant, joyful nature. She was never at a loss for conversation and she accepted people just as they are with never an unkind word for anyone. She was our rock and foundation and she will be deeply missed! The family thanks the staff at Tuxedo Villa Retirement Home for their kindness to Mum and her family during the past eight months. A Memorial Service celebrating Winifred's life will take place on Friday, August 26, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. at Headingley United Church, 110 Bridge Road, Headingley, MB with Rev. George Davidson officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations in Win's name may be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society, 45 Hurst Way, Winnipeg, R3T 0R3.
