MAVIS DAWN CAVELL (nee FOGG) Sadly, and far too soon, our family lost a wonderful spirit, with the sudden passing of our beloved wife, mother, and grandmother on August 18, 2011. Mavis was born on April 19, 1936, to Fred and Agnes Fogg, and along with her twin sister Marlyne, was welcomed home by six brothers and sisters. The family lived in Fort Rouge, where Mavis attended Earl Grey School, and later went on to work at The Canadian Wheat Board. In 1958, she married Bill Cavell, and it wasn't long before she settled into her true calling, as the wonderful, loving mother of four children, and later, as the most generous and caring grandmother, that her nine grandchildren could have asked for. Her home was always an open and loving safe haven as her family grew, and it later became the hub around which the lives of her children's families revolved. Sunday dinners were a constant, and extended family and friends were always welcome. Should anyone need a shoulder to cry on or an ear to bend, she was always there. Her pets were as fortunate as her family, in that no one could have loved them more or cared for them any better. She will be missed, more than she ever could have imagined. Left to forever cherish her memory is her husband of 53 years, Bill, along with her son Mike (Marj), daughter Jodi (Al), daughter Darcy (Ron), son Chris (Jocelyne); nine adored grandchildren, Christina, Kyle, Caitlyn, Evan, Taylor, Mikayla, Brylee, Jolène and J.T., and of course, her constant companion, Maggie. She also leaves behind her brother Ronnie (Florence), sisters, Jackie, Margaret (Norm), and Shirley (Ralph), brother-in-law Jim, sister-in-law Doreen, and a host of nieces and nephews. Mavis was predeceased by her parents, Fred and Agnes Fogg, brothers Gordon and Russ, and twin sister and best friend Marlyne. Family and friends are invited to join us in a celebration of Mavis' life on Thursday, August 25, 2011, at 12:00 p.m. at Neil Bardal Funeral Centre, 3030 Notre Dame Avenue (across from Brookside Cemetery). In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Winnipeg Humane Society, 45 Hurst Way, Winnipeg, Manitoba R3T 9Z9. NEIL BARDAL FUNERAL CENTRE (204) 949-2200 nbardal.mb.ca
