MYRON (RON) DELMAR SMITH April 6, 1946 - August 23, 2011 It is with tear filled eyes and heavy hearts we are all forced to say good-bye to a wonderful Father, Grandfather, Brother, Uncle and Friend. After a lengthy illness and courageous battle with cancer, Dad finally found peace and went to join his mother Evelyn, father Joseph, sister Linda and Grandpa Leo in the kingdom of God. Left to mourn his passing are his son Rorie (Corrie), daughter Robyn (Earl), grandchildren Courtney, Tyler, Theren, Teagan and Tihanna. Brothers Vaughn, Wayne, Ed, Bill, Glenn, Barry, Jack and sister Gail. Numerous nephews, nieces and friends. Dad was born, raised and spent all his life in Winnipeg and after 29 years of service with Winnipeg Transit, retired in April, 2000. After his retirement Dad greeted and made many shoppers smile at the Superstore on St. James St. Dad was an avid outdoorsman and spent many hours on the water fishing or in a stubble field hunting ducks and geese. He would love telling stories about his fishing adventures with his brothers and how they never seemed to have a net! Dad passed on his love for the outdoors to his family. Dad always enjoyed a good BBQ steak or fish fry along with dark rum and coke or an ice cold beer. Only the love and commitment to his family superceded these things. A special thanks to Dr. Laylek at CancerCare Manitoba and all the staff at Bethania Personal Care Home for their hard work, dedication and compassion in making Dad's last days as comfortable as possible. You're all amazing people. At Dad's request there will be no service and cremation has already taken place. A tea will be held on Friday, August 26, 2011 from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Mosaic Funeral Home, 1839 Inkster Blvd in Winnipeg to celebrate Dad's life. In lieu of flowers donations, can be made to Cancer Care Manitoba, Ducks Unlimited or the Winnipeg Humane Society in Dad's name. Thanks Dad for all your love and the great memories for us to cherish. You will be dearly missed until we all can be re-united. We love you Dad!
