CAROLYN GILLESPIE With profound sadness, the family announces the peaceful passing of Carolyn Gillespie on Sunday, August 21, 2011 after a courageous battle with cancer, at age 54. Carolyn was predeceased by her father, Len Gillespie, stepfather Jack Peacock and sister-in-law Carol Peacock. Left to mourn her untimely passing are her mother, Louise Peacock, brothers Jeff (Betty), Blair and Kent and treasured nieces and nephews, Giselle, Brooke, Dawn, Brianne, Taylor, Ryan and precious grand niece, Kalia. Carolyn was born in Winnipeg on August 17, 1957, spent her childhood in Vancouver and moved back to Winnipeg when she was 15. She graduated from Windsor Park Collegiate and the University of Manitoba and worked 30 years for the Government of Manitoba. Carolyn served as president of Junior League and made several special and long-lasting friendships along the way. Carolyn cherished trips to Vancouver with her mother to visit with special friends and celebrate her birthday. She enjoyed many trips to Mexico, the Caribbean, England and had a very special trip to Disney World with her family. She loved her shopping trips to the States, Blue Bomber games, quilting, gardening, entertaining, outings with friends and most of all enjoyed spending time with her family. Carolyn's warmth and pleasant personality touched everyone she met. She will be forever remembered for her kindness, graciousness and zest for life. The beauty of flowers will always remind us of Carolyn. A special thank you to the medical specialists who cared for Carolyn over the past few years. A celebration of Carolyn's life will be held Thursday, August 25 at 11:00 a.m. at Thomson Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations to CancerCare Manitoba would be appreciated.
