FRANCES PUCHALSKI May 15, 1918 -August 19, 2011 It is with deep sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Frances Puchalski at Concordia Hospital at the age of 93. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. She was predeceased by her parents, Julian and Mary Puchalski, sisters Grace and Anne, and brother Gerald. She is survived by her sister Jean Garlinski and brothers Ralph (Lorena), Arthur (Diane), Lenard, and Russell (Marie). Also surviving is her sister-in-law Beatrice as well as many nieces, nephews and special friends. Frances was born on the family farm in Grandview, MB, and left home at the age of 15, to begin a life of independence, starting with employment as a nanny and housekeeper. She moved to Winnipeg and continued working, becoming a hostess at the Carlton Club for many years. Never one to sit around and watch the world pass her by, she took a secretarial course at the age of 42 and became head bookkeeper at Chapel Lawn/Glen Eden Memorial Gardens, a position which she held until her retirement at the age of 68. Dancing was a passion in her life and she took every opportunity to do so. She was an accomplished seamstress and sewed all of her clothing, including the dresses for special occasions. Family was very important to her and she loved family gatherings. She moved from an apartment into her house in 1981. Maintaining and upgrading her home and yard was her passion throughout her retirement years. She remained independent in her home until December 24, 2010 when she entered the hospital. The family would like to express our heartfelt thanks to all the staff of N1 North wing at Concordia Hospital for all their wonderful care, compassion and kindness in making Aunt Frances' last days comfortable. A celebration of Frances' life will be held, Friday, August 26, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. in the chapel at Green Acres Funeral Home, with reception to follow. Interment will be held on Saturday, August 27, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at Eldon Cemetery in Gilbert Plains, MB.
