LAWRENCE SIMON September 3, 1942 August 19, 2011 It is with great sadness the family announces the sudden passing of Lawrence on August 19, 2011 at the age of 68 years. Lawrence leaves to mourn his passing his daughter Lori (Curtis) Hayden and grand-children Kristy and Cody; daughter Denine (Conrad) Kiesman and grandchildren Devynn and Dayna; brothers Joey, Randy and David; godchild Autumn; brothers-in-law Frank (Marlene), Rodney and Leo (Sherry); and sisters-in-law Gwen, Penny (John), Marlene (David), Darlene (Angelo) and Leeann (Darren). He was predeceased by his wife Carla in February, 2005; his father and mother Victor and Margaret; sisters Karen and Cheryl; brothers Reid and Marvin; father-in-law Adam, mother-in-law Esther; brother-in-law and longtime friend Gordon; niece Bridget and nephew Trevor. Lawrence was born on September 3, 1942 in Eriksdale, MB and was raised in Camper, MB. He met the love of his life, Carla, in 1957 and they were later married. They moved to Winnipeg where they raised their two daughters. Lawrence worked as a mechanic at Motor Coach Industries. He later became a professional truck driver and worked for Allied Auto from 1967 until he retired in September 2000. He had 33 years of safe driving for which he received many awards and acknowledgements on his achievements. His interests and hobbies were fishing and hunting. He spent countless hours with family and friends at Lake Manitoba Narrows fishing, sitting around the campfire or playing cards. Lawrence was an avid hunter who enjoyed goose, elk and deer hunting. Lori, Denine and their families would like to express their gratitude to family and friends who supported Dad through difficult times since his wife's passing, to the doctors and staff of the Lakeshore General Hospital in Ashern, Helen Webster and the home care workers and to the Adult Day Program. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, August 26, 2011 at the Ashern Legion Hall with Pastor Bill Watson officiating. Interment to follow in the Lakeside Cemetery.
