Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryERNEST SCHOLLENBERG Ernest Schollenberg passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 23, 2011 surrounded by family at the Concordia Hospital. He is now able to join his wife (Babe) the only true love of his life, who predeceased him in March of 1985. May they rest in peace together at last. Ernie was born August 24, 1928. He is predeceased by his parents Arthur and Martha, and by his only brother Ed. Left to cherish his memory are, his three children and their families: Debbie (daughter) and Cal Franklin, their daughters Robyn (Kevin) and Ashlee (Derek), Arthur (son) and Peggy Schollenberg with daughter Christine, Ross (son) and Val Schollenberg, and their children Brian, Jason (Jen) and Nikita (JP). Ernie loved his family very much and thoroughly enjoyed the get togethers held throughout the year. He will be remembered as a man with strong values who provided much support to his children throughout their lives. He also loved the menagerie of family pets, and always had a special treat for them. He enjoyed reminiscing, a good joke, playing cards, keeping up with current events, and when younger, gardening, dancing, playing horseshoes, curling, music, camping, fishing and weekends in Birnie, Manitoba. Ernie grew up in the North end of Winnipeg, held a variety of jobs in his youth which included newspaper delivery, pin setting, and shining shoes. He eventually settled into a full time bookkeeping position at Five Roses and then as buyer at Flyer Industries. He was a dedicated and much valued employee, turning down many opportunities for promotion in exchange for family work life balance. During the Winnipeg flood of 1951, he met the love of his life and got married shortly thereafter on August 25 that same year. They truly enjoyed each others company, and he cherished their memories together, remaining loyal to her until the end. They had a strong marriage, filled with love and respect and raised three successful children in this environment. No formal services will be held at his request however, friends and family are invited to attend the gravesite to pay their respects at the Riverside Cemetery on Saturday, August 27 at 1:00 p.m. A get together to celebrate Ernie's life is planned at the Neepawa Legion commencing at 1:30 p.m. We extend special thanks and gratitude to all those who were involved in his care throughout the years. In lieu of flowers, donations to a charity of your choice are graciously accepted. Funeral Arrangements In Care Of WHEELER FUNERAL CHAPEL 211 REGENT AVE. WEST AT BOND 224-1525
