Date of Passing: Aug 22, 2011
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryROSE KATHERINE JURKOWSKI (nee BEMBENEK) Peacefully, after a lengthy illness, it is with deep regret that we announce the death of Rose Jurkowski on Monday, August 22, 2011, at Seven Oaks Hospital, at the age of 85 years. Remaining to forever cherish Rose's memory are husband of 59 years, Henry; children, Anthony (Natalie) of Sacramento, Arthur, Terry (Vince) of Calgary, and Vince; siblings, Tony, Anna, Nick and Jean; grandchildren, Stephanie and Justin. She was predeceased by parents, Peter and Helen; siblings, John, Frank, Mary, Joe, Amy, Bernice, Carol, August, Martin, and Paul. Rose was born in Baldur, Manitoba, and moved with her family to Winnipeg as a young girl. Mom had an unshakeable faith in God and church, where she was a past member of the C.W.L. Rose loved to garden, knit, and crochet. Her favourite social pastimes were playing cards and Monday night bingo, at St. John Cantius Hall, where she was a member of the seniors club. Mom was a wonderful cook, baker, home maker, wife, mother, and friend to all. On Monday, August 29, 2011, at 10:30 a.m., Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated in St. Anthony of Padua Roman Catholic Church, 250 Burrin Avenue at Aikins Street, with Rev. Fr. Mark Filips presiding. Interment will follow in Assumption Roman Catholic Cemetery, 3990 Portage Avenue. For those who wish, viewing will be held prior to the Funeral Liturgy. Pallbearers will be Messrs, Derek Jurkowski, Steven Jurkowski, John Wasney, Brian Bambenek, Joe Weselake, and David Bambenek. We would like to extend special thanks to the caring staff at Seven Oaks Hospital, and the thoughtful staff at Magic Cuts and Zellers Northgate, every Friday, for the past few years. In lieu of flowers, a donation in Rose's memory may be made to a charity of one's choice.
