DOROTHY MAY CHASNEY (nee PARSONS) May 6, 1941 - August 6, 2011 After a long struggle with cancer, Dorothy passed away peacefully at home on August 6, 2011 at the age of 70 years. Dorothy is survived by her daughter Karen and her son Russell; her sisters Leslie and Wendy. She is predeceased by her husband of 37 years, Casmer Frank; her brothers, Brian, Frank, Ken, Bob, Jim and Dennis; her sister Arlene, as well as her parents. She will be missed deeply by all those who knew and loved her. Dorothy was born in Winnipeg on May 6, 1941 to Frank and Edith Parsons (nee McDonald). She met and married Cas in Winnipeg and after a brief stay in Ottawa, they settled in Toronto to raise a family. Dorothy moved back to Winnipeg in November 1999 shortly after her husband's passing. Dorothy's strength and fierce determination was an inspiration to all. This was evident during her battle with cancer over several years, her epic struggle to re-enter the workforce after many dedicated years raising a family, and in her selfless devotion caring for Cas during his illness. Dorothy will always be remembered for her kindness and good sense of humour. Special thanks to Leslie and Carl, Linda, Pat and Renata, Joan and Doug, Wendy and Fred and all other family members who helped welcome Dorothy back home to Winnipeg and supported her in so many ways during her battle with cancer. Many thanks to the dedicated staff at Health Sciences Centre and CancerCare Manitoba for their care. Thanks as well to medical staff in Toronto for their care when Dorothy was first diagnosed with cancer. In keeping with Dorothy's wishes, cremation has taken place and interment will follow in the family plot at Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Toronto. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, CancerCare Manitoba Foundation, or another charity of your choice. The Coutu family in care of arrangements: E. J. COUTU CO.
