Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARION ALICE SCOTT (nee SMITH) On Friday, August 26, 2011, Marion went to be with her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Marion will be lovingly remembered by her children, son Doug; daughters, Joy Akerley, Susan (Randy) Hanson, Nancy (Jeff) Loiland; grandchildren, Stewart (Tricia) Akerley, Heather (Kris) Scott, Joanne (Stafford) Greer, Alicia and Emily Loiland; sister, Dot (Jerry) Young of St. Albert, Alberta, as well as nine great-grandchildren. Marion was born on May 1, 1926, in Winnipeg and lived in Carmen, MB. She worked in Portage La Prairie, as a teen, and then moved to Winnipeg and worked at the post office in Eaton's. Marion met Gordon Scott, and married in December 12, 1947, they were stationed in Shilo, Germany and Winnipeg, retiring in 1969. Marion and Gordon enjoyed many trips to Hawaii, and they spent 15 years flying south to Pine to Palm Retirement Park in Weslaco, Texas. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, and babysitting; they were her special talents. Marion was very active in the Kirkfield United Church, involved in the U.C.W. and Choir. Every Friday she looked forward to spending her days with her friends at Golden West Centennial Lodge Senior Program. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, August 30, 2011, at 2:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the charity of your choice.
