Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryELSIE LAURA CARNEGIE (nee VERDEGEN) Febuary 3, 1920 - August 24, 2011 Peacefully, on Wednesday, August 24, 2011, Elsie passed away at the age of 92 years. She was predeceased by her husband, Frank; her parents, Peter and Clara Verdegen, and sister, Laura. She will be deeply missed by her son, Peter Carnegie (Marlene); her grandchildren, Sean Carnegie (Jamie) and Shannon Andersen (Glenn), and her great-grandchildren, Meghan, Hannah and Ella. To her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren, Elsie was fondly known as Cookie. She will be greatly missed by her niece, Evelyn Hayward of Calgary, and her nephew, Maurice Buydens of Pilot Mound, plus her many dear friends. Elsie was born in Bruxelles, Manitoba. At a young age, she moved to Winnipeg with her parents. She married Frank on April 21, 1952. Elsie joined the Canadian Pacific Railway Company, as a stenographer, and after 42 years of service, she retired as secretary to the Prairie Region Vice-President. Elsie and Frank loved to travel, play bridge, and enjoyed many, happy times with their grandchildren, family and friends. The family extends a heartfelt thank you to the staff of West Park Manor. Their care and compassion were outstanding. The family wishes to especially thank Elsie's devoted companion, Elizabeth. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, August 31, 2011, at 2:00 p.m. at Neil Bardal Funeral Centre, 3030 Notre Dame Avenue (across from Brookside Cemetery).
