Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryKENNETH SNEAD 1929 - 2011 Kenneth Snead of Red Deer passed away peacefully at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre on Wednesday, August 24, 2011 at the age of 81 years. Ken was born on the family farm at Woodmore, Manitoba. He was the second son born to Gladys and Edgar Snead. Ken grew up and farmed with his dad and brother on the family farm, growing grain and raising livestock. Ken was always there for neighbours and friends to lend a helping hand. His love and pride of farming was evident when talking about the farm years. Bachelorhood ended for Ken in 1985 when he married Audrey. Ken always loved fishing and continued to do so with Audrey. Many good times were had and many memories made on their fishing trips and while at their trailer by the lake at Lac Du Bonnet, Manitoba. They remained on the farm until 1992 when they retired to Red Deer. While in Red Deer, Ken kept busy doing volunteer work at the Canadian Red Cross and Sunnybrook Farm Museum. Ken and Audrey were active members of Gaetz Memorial United Church. In 1986, he became a member of the Penza Lodge in Dominion City, Manitoba. His father Edgar had been a Lodge member for many years, and would have been very proud of Ken. Ken continued his membership and was active in the Red Deer Lodge until his passing. Curling was his favorite sport as he was an avid curler, and later on loved to watch it either live or on television. After moving to Red Deer, he took up golfing, which he continued to enjoy right up until the morning of the day he entered the hospital. Ken will be lovingly remembered by his nephew Kerry (Susan) and their children Blake, Brittney (Gregg), stepson Curtis (Paulette) and their children Nicholas (Courtney) and their daughter Kaiya, Steven (Calie) and their son Seth. Ken was predeceased by his wife Audrey, stepson Jeff, parents Gladys and Edgar, a brother Norman and a sister-in-law Matilda. The family would like to thank the staff at the Red Deer Regional Hospital and the staff at Masterpiece Inglewood for their care and support. A graveside service will be held at Alto Reste Cemetery, Highway 11 East, Red Deer County Alberta on Monday, August 29, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. Donations in Ken's honour may be made directly to the Canadian Red Cross Alberta/Northwest Territories Office P.O. Box 4050, STN C, Calgary, Alberta T2T 5W7 or to the charity of one's choice. Condolences may be sent or viewed at www.parklandfuneralhome.com.
