JULIUS (JULE) ZUK January 24, 1940 - August 26, 2011 With profound sadness the family announces the passing of Jule Zuk on August 26, 2011 after a brief but heroic battle with cancer. His family never left his side during this time. Jule is survived by his wife Joan; his sons Kevin (Jo-Ann) and Brian (Cheryl); his daughter Andrea (Troy); his grandsons Daren, Quinn, Graham and Austin; his brother Jerry (Dorothy) Zuk; and his sister Diane (Terry) Edgeworth. Predeceased by his parents John and Ann Zuk. Jule was born in Winnipeg to John and Ann Zuk. Jule grew up in East Kildonan, attending Miles Macdonell for his high school years. He was a devoted son, husband, father, grandfather, brother and loyal friend to many. Jule's family always came first, without question. Jule and Joan were married in 1962 and would have celebrated forty nine happy years together this November. As a teen he started working with his father in the family business, North End Auto Spring. Eventually Jule took over the business which he ran successfully until his retirement in 1990. His time was then devoted to his true passions, his grandchildren and fishing. Jule developed a love of the outdoors early in life spending many happy days hunting and camping with his friends and then with his family. An avid duck hunter, he was usually out on the first day of open season each year. He loved the outdoors and shared his experience with local Scouts, starting when his sons were in Cubs. He continued his involvement with the Scouts for over 25 years. He loved camping with his family throughout Manitoba and Ontario but his favorite place was Sasaginigak Lake in Northern Manitoba where he and Joan would go fishing together. These trips were the highlight of his summers. Nothing brought him more peace than sitting in a boat with his line in the water. The only thing he loved more than fishing were his four grandsons. He and Joan made several trips a year to visit Quinn and Austin in Ontario as well as a number of trips to Japan to visit Daren and Graham during the three years they spent there. Many wonderful days were spent watching his four grandsons swimming and playing in the backyard on Pleasant Bay where he lived until he and Joan moved to East St. Paul last summer. A Memorial Service will be held Tuesday, August 30, 2011, at Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main St. at 2:00 p.m. The family asks that you have a glass of wine for Jule at 5:00 p.m., a family tradition. Donations can be made to the Children's Hospital Foundation of Winnipeg. Glen Eden Funeral Home 338-7111 www.gleneden-mb.ca

Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • I knew Jules as my Scoutmaster in the troop with Kevin and Brian. Jules was enthusiastic and patient with us, I learned a lot from him, I developed a love of the wilderness, and I still have a wealth of good memories about him. The last time I saw him, he remembered me as the kid who put ketchup on my pierogi. - Posted by: Cam Mayor (Scoutmaster) on: Jul 26, 2025
