Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryOLGA KNOLL September 16, 1922 - August 26, 2011 Just three weeks before her 89th birthday, Olga passed away suddenly but peacefully, at The Poseidon Care Centre. Predeceased by her husband Otto in 1997, and brothers John and Jim, Olga lived in the family home in East Kildonan until March 2011. Her daughters Dale Stromberg and Pat Brown, her grandchildren Lori and Colleen Stromberg, Sarah, Amy and Ian Brown, their spouses, and sister Jean Weizel survive her. Her family grew to include seven great-grandchildren: Max, Emma, Phoebe, Sigge, Zenon, Aveline, Avaya and Emilio. As a young woman and mother of an infant and toddler, Olga survived TB. When told she would die of the disease, she beat the odds, and after two years in hospital went on to live a long and productive life. She loved to travel and made many trips by herself and with Otto, to visit family in Vancouver and Germany. An excellent baker, cook, and avid gardener, she was a skilled knitter, and many were the lucky recipients of her handiwork. Her beloved cat Sam gave her hours of joy. For years, she enjoyed entertaining at the family cottage in Whytewold. The family will hold a private ceremony at a future date, when she joins Otto to rest in St William's Cemetery, not too far from the cottage.
