Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDR. VALENTYNA IVANIVNA VORONINA Dr. Valentyna Ivanivna Voronina passed away at home following a short illness on Thursday, July 28, 2011. Valentyna was born on November 30, 1933 in Dnipropetrovsk Region, Ukraine. She was the beloved daughter of Ivan and Phenya Kuzmenko, from whom she inherited a lifelong love of gardening and learning. She is survived by her sisters Halena and Vera and predeceased by her brother Boris. She is also survived by her husband Sergei Voronin and their three children: Tatiana, Lyudmyla (Luda), and Volodomir (Walter). In 2007, Valentyna and Sergei came to live in Winnipeg with her daughter Luda and her husband Lorne. Sergei returned to Ukraine in 2009, where he still lives. Valentyna thrived in Winnipeg, taking English classes at Age and Opportunity and the Immigrant Centre, and later a writing class at the Winnipeg Public Library. She is also survived by her extended family here in Winnipeg, the Friesens. Katerine Friesen was married to the late George Friesen, who was the brother of Valentyna's father. She is also survived by her grandchildren and great-grandson. Her elder daughter Tatiana had two daughters: Elena and Anna. Her son Walter and his wife Lara have a son, Tony. And her daughter Luda's son Dan and his wife Jennifer are the parents of Rylan, her great-grandchild. The family would like to express its appreciation to the Palliative Care program and the Home Care program, in particular Norma and Pasquina. Funeral services were held at Wojcik's Funeral Chapel at 2157 Portage Avenue on July 30, 2011. Following cremation she was interred at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens on August 4, 2011.
