THOMAS DAVID ARTHUR SMEALL I heard the voice of Jesus Say, Come unto me and Rest The most beautiful pair of blue eyes peacefully closed for a final time on August 27, 2011, Tom went to his eternal rest at Deer Lodge Centre. He was born on January 14, 1924 in Ottawa, Ontario. Tom was predeceased by his wife Marion and sons Thomas and Paul, also parents John and Sarah Smeall and siblings George, Frank, Emeline, Allan, John and Harry. Tom's memory lives on in the lives of his grandchildren: Carol, Sarah, Thom Jr., Tyler, Richard, and Paul. He leaves 11 great-grandchildren behind. Mourning the loss of their brother is Alice Willis, Betty Marks, Ogle Smeall of Winnipeg and Howard Smeall of Trinidad, Colorado, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Tom served in the Second World War in the United Kingdom and on Continental Europe. Tom worked at the CNR for many years. Retiring to Sandy Hook in 1973. He moved back to Winnipeg in November 2006 living with his sister Betty Marks until entering Deer Lodge Tower 6 on May 28, 2009. A memorial Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 01, 2011, Deer Lodge Centre Chapel, 2109 Portage Avenue, Reverend Jeff Woodcroft presiding. A private family interment has taken place at Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens in the family niche. The family wishes to thank all the wonderful and dedicated staff on Tower 6. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Tom to Deer Lodge Centre, Tower 6 Recreation Program, 2109 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg, R3J 0L3.
