ROBERT DOUGLAS ROURKE (WEST WIND MAN) June 1, 1989 - August 25, 2011 It is with great sadness we announce the sudden passing of Robert on August 25, 2011, at Health Sciences Centre SICU Unit, after he succumbed to his injuries. Robert was a kind hearted person, he would never turn his back on anyone who needed help. A budding guitar player, his music will be missed by everyone who heard him play. Always with a smile on his face and laughter in his heart, it was hard to stay in a bad mood when you were with him. He will be missed by his friends and family who will remember him forever. He is survived by his mom Dolores, stepdad William Billy', brothers William (Stacey: Dakota, Asheley, Daylan and baby Tia) and Michael. Sisters, Christalena, Mary (Chico: Franklin, Megan, Lloyd, Nathan, Melissa, Tyler, Melanie, Gracie and grandkids), Sylvia (Rob: Andrew and Zach) and special Ma Betty. He also leaves to mourn his Grandma Lena Rourke and family, the Johnston family, the Thomas family and numerous family and friends. Rob was predeceased by his father William D. Johnston and numerous grandparents. The family would like to thank the staff of the SICU unit at HSC for their endless help and support. Condolences & Memories (2 entries)

  • It's your birthday today and The whole entire family misses you, we miss you playing guitar and making us laugh when we're down, I only have two brothers left but my favorite goofy brother who makes me laugh is resting with his father, you use to teach me and Daylan guitar songs, and kept us motivated to keep on learning piano, guitar, drums, etc. Now all we have are memories that we cherish in our hearts. I love you and miss you Robert, soon we will meet again. -Chrissy - Posted by: Christalena (Sister) on: Jun 01, 2012

  • I remember looking back when Rob was growing up. The things he loved to do was play marbles, watch Power Rangers and The World Wrestling Federation (WWE) He and I had a close bond, at times he'd get me in trouble, but I'd always forgive him. I recall the time he was so excited to go to a WWE PPV event at the Winnipeg Arena for 'In Your House "Great White North"' he got to meet the wrestlers up close just me and him before the event started, he referred him and myself like the Hart brothers Bret & Owen and going by rank myself being Bret a good guy (babyface) and himself as Owen the bad one (heel) he would practice the moves out with me, he and I would go at it. One time his death could of came sooner at a young age when I pile drived him on our couch, so he was subjected to a neck brace. We learnt our lesson but never stopped us, we got older and wiser how to perform. When Owen died in 1999 at "Over The Edge" at the age of 10 it hurt Rob and mourned the loss of of his hero 'Owen'. It seem like yesterday when I had to break the bad news that our father passed away. Rob and our dad were so close, and now that they are angels looking down on us. Rob's life was cut short at the age of twenty-two words can not express how I felt when he was murdered (thinking this is a nightmare...the sad reality this is real as it can get). I still think that he's at my eldest brother's Will helping him out and he'd stop by or phone me, now all I have is his video of him playing guitar and when we went bowling. (As I break down at this moment) I will always remember the fun times we had together. I really hate that cold heart murderer for what he did to you...words can not express the true feelings that I want to shout out but have to maintain a friendly topic for this tribute. So as I maintain my composure I leave this poem for you "You Are My Friend" You are my friend, tho were miles apart I am still with you for always you will be in my heart. You are my friend, and I call your name tho its not the same you still are always here in my heart. Wherever you go I want you to know There will always be a you and me cause... You are my friend, and the time has came When we learn to live from day to day and year after year. You are my friend, through the darkest nights tho were out of sight the fun we shared I will cherish it for always here in my heart Wherever you go I want you to know there has never been... A friend like you cause You are my friend, and I call your name tho its not the same you still are always here in my heart you are my friend.....till the end!!! ps love you and sure do miss you!!! - Posted by: Michael (brother) on: Mar 28, 2012
