MATHILDE GAUTRON (nee REY) It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our dear Mother, Mathilde Gautron (née Rey) on her 88th birthday, Sunday, August 28, 2011 at Meadowood Manor. Left to cherish her memory are her seven children, Arthur (Elise Lambert), Denis (Evelyne Gagné), Noëlla (Ronald Rouire), Norbert (Raymonde Mabon), Louise (Ephrem Dupont), Aimé (Alice Comte), Julie (Roger Challis), 17 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Also left to mourn her passing are two brothers, Pierre Rey and Georges Rey (Iris); five sisters, Georgette (Badiou), Bernadette (Galbraith), Jeanne (Louis Dedieu), Léonie (Charles Philippot), and Rose (Sawchuk); a brother-in-law, Robert Coppell and a sister-in-law Rose Gautron. She was predeceased by her husband Henri (1967), her parents Joseph and Juliette Rey (née Gobin), and by her grandson André Dupont (2003). Mathilde was also predeceased by two sisters, two brothers and in-laws, Marie and Joseph Allec, Laurette Coppell, Joseph and Cécile Rey, Louis, Rolande and Louise Rey, Carol Rey, Marcel Badiou, Robert Galbraith, Alec Sawchuk, Lucie and Louis Pilloud, Louis and Berthe Gautron, Jeanne and Aimé Janier, Albert and Marie-Louise Gautron, Georges Gautron, Joseph Gautron and Antonia Gagné. Mathilde was born on August 28, 1923 and lived on a farm in St. Claude, MB. After her marriage to Henri they raised their family on a farm northwest of Haywood. Both Mathilde and Henri highly valued the education of their children always making sure that homework was completed and post-secondary education was encouraged. After her husband passed away she eventually moved to St. Claude where she worked part-time at the general grocery store and at the seniors' residence. Several years later she moved to Accueil Colombien in St. Boniface, then Residence Despins and later Meadowood Manor in St. Vital. She always prided herself in cooking hearty meals for her family and visitors. One of her favourite hobbies was knitting lovely sweaters and bonnets for her grandchildren. Mathilde also enjoyed gardening, especially growing flowers. She was an avid reader of the Winnipeg Free Press, La Liberté and the St. Claude Gazette. The family extends their heartfelt appreciation to the staff of Residence Despins and Meadowood Manor for their loving compassionate care. We also wish to express our gratitude to Monique Desaulniers, Agnès Gousseau and Georgette Boille for enhancing Mom's well being. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the St. Claude Wellness Centre, P.O. Box 400, St. Claude, MB R0G 1Z0. Eulogy at 1:30 p.m. followed by the funeral mass to be celebrated in the St. Denis Roman Catholic Church in Haywood, MB, on Friday, September 2, 2011. Interment of the ashes will follow in the parish cemetery.
