MARY ETHEL STRONG December 20, 1927 - August 29, 2011 It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Mary Ethel Strong (nee Blake) at the age of 83. She will be extremely missed by her brother Jim (Marty), daughter Maureen (Tom), and her stepchildren David, Bill (Dorothy), Brian (Connie), Chuck (Shelley) and Debbie (Darnell). She will also be missed by her granddaughters Marsha (Rob), Crystal, Barb (Wayne) and Grace (Gian). Ethel was predeceased by her husband Maurice; sisters Margaret and Grace; and her parents William and Grace Blake. She is survived by her sisters-in-law Jean (Len), Joan, Shirley, Tillie; brother-in-law Stan (Eileen); eight great-grandchildren; 18 step-grandchildren; and 47 step-great-grandchildren. Born and raised in St. Vital, Ethel worked for MTS and retired after 42 years of service and became a member of the MTS Pioneers. She was also a 61 year member of Olive Branch Historic Rebekah Lodge #1 of The Independent Order of Odd Fellows. She enjoyed countless hours volunteering at various Rebekah events and at the Golden Links Personal Care Home. I'm Free Don't grieve for me, for now I'm free, I could not stay another day, To laugh, to love, to work or play. Tasks left undone must stay that way, I found the peace at the close of day. If my parting has left a void, Then fill it with remembered joys, A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss, Oh yes, these things I too will miss. God wanted me now; He set me free. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association and/or the Memorial Eye Foundation of Manitoba.
