MARY WASIO (nee SMERCHANSKI) Peacefully on Tuesday, August 30, 2011, Mary passed away at the age of 94. Mary will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Valerie and her husband Bob, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family. She was predeceased her husband Nicholas in 1972, brothers Julius, Joe, Adam, Willie, and Stanley, sisters Jessie, Anne, Lena, and Olga. Mary was born in Malonton, Manitoba. Mary's family meant everything to her. She was a wonderful daughter to her parents, Helen and Jacob, wife to Nick, and an amazing mother, sister and aunt. She was respected and loved by everyone who knew her. Mary made friends easily and these relationships endured as the years went by. She was always there to help. Mary had an adventurous spirit and embraced the opportunity to travel and face life's challenges. She worked at Eaton's for many years. Mary also enjoyed her church involvements at Calvary Temple. She loved playing scrabble. In her later years, she enjoyed her time with the senior's club at Lion's Place. Viewing will take place on Friday, September 2 from 7:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 3 at 10:00 a.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue. She was blessed and she was a blessing.
