MARY LYNNE MCCARTNEY
Date of Passing: Aug 30, 2011
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARY LYNNE MCCARTNEY After a lengthy battle with cancer, our mother passed away with her family by her side on August 30, 2011 at the age of 69. She will be missed dearly by her three children, Shawn (Victoria), Shannon (Brian), and Shane (Kara). Also left to remember are, her very special grandchildren, Rebecca, Haley, Andrew and Aiden, her brother Ross (Doreen), her sister Donna and many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents Robert and Irene Adamson. Our mother was born in Regina, and lived there and Melville before moving to Winnipeg in 1953. Our family moved to Carman in 1967, and that is where she honed her sporting skills and made many great friends. She was an avid (and impressive), golfer and curler, but it was the social memories involved with both sports that she talked of often. We aren't sure how many times we heard the story of being stranded in a vehicle in a snowstorm with three other ladies during a bonspiel; all of whom had to go to the bathroom! They found a way, even with several occupied vehicles nearby. She moved to Saskatoon in 1995 and lived with her loving sister. She worked at a local golf course and people from near and far would flock to buy her famous butter tarts. And they were amazing! She moved back to Winnipeg and lived at Devonshire Place for the past 18 months, and she loved it thanks to the wonderful residents and staff. A special thank you to CancerCare staff, and specifically Dr. Brandes who worked with our mother to give her the longest and most pain free end of life possible. A private family interment has taken place. Mom, you'll forever be in our hearts. Chapel Lawn www.chapellawn.mb.ca 885-9715
