Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARGARET LORRAINE SCOTT (nee WILLIAMS) Passed away peacefully at Lanark Place on July 29, 2011, having celebrated her 91st birthday on April 28. She grew up in Winnipeg, MB and was the last of her immediate family. She spent her early adult life in Winnipeg, working as a kindergarten teacher. After the war, she went to Europe to teach the children of Canadian military families. She travelled to Australia for a summer to visit a pen pal, Noel, whom she had had for many years and turned that association into a lifelong friendship. In the late 1960s, she attended Kent State University training as a speech therapist. In 1970, she married Richard Scott and moved to Ottawa. She and Dick retired to Penetanguishene, ON where they spent their summers commuting to Smith's Island, and travelling to Port Charlotte, FL in the winter. After his death in November, 1985, she continued to reside in Midland, driving to Florida for the winter months. In 2001 she moved to the Villa in Midland and in 2004 she moved to Victoria Place in Kitchener, where she could be near her grand-niece Sheila Hultquist, who helped look after her needs up until her death. She leaves two stepchildren Alison Scott Butler, Nova Scotia, and Diana Scott, Burlington, ON. Her stepson, Gordon, predeceased her in April 2000. Sheila hosted a wonderful 90th birthday which was attended by most of her extended family - step-grandchildren and grand-nieces and nephews. We would like to thank all her wonderful caregivers at both Victoria Place and Lanark Place as well as her faithful visitors from Home Instead who gave her a quality of life she would not otherwise have had. Margaret's family will receive relatives and friends from 6:00 p.m. until 6:45 p.m. on Friday, September 9, 2011 at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick St., Kitchener, 519-749-8467. Memorial services will be conducted at 7 p.m. Friday evening in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Jack Paleczny officiating. Reception to follow at the funeral home. Cremation has taken place.
