Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryCAROL HUBER (nee TOKARZ) January 20, 1944 - August 24, 2011 After a courageous battle with cancer, Carol Huber passed away on August 24 with her loving husband at her side. Carol is survived by her husband Henry (Hank), sons Edmund (Karen Gough), Clint (Dana) and the apple of her eye grandson Brady. She is also survived by brothers and sisters Bill (Irene) Tokarz, Pauline (Ellis) Woods, Marleen (Rus) Gowan, Michael Tokarz and numerous nieces and nephews. Carol was predeceased by her parents Joseph and Dora Tokarz (nee Wszolek). Carol was born in Winnipeg in 1944, and grew up and attended various schools in the West Kildonan area. Carol met Hank when she was a teenager and they married in 1964. Carol and Hank moved to various locations for Hank's work with the CN railway including Collins ON, Savant Lake ON, before finally settling in Atikokan, ON in 1965. Carol stayed at home to raise her children. She worked as a tree planter, a cleaner at the Radisson Motel and house cleaner for Home Support. Carol always kept her house just so. She enjoyed living in Atikokan and going to bingo and coffee with her many friends. Carol loved traveling. Some of her favourite trips were to Europe, Bali, Hawaii, EXPO86, Las Vegas and camping trips to the east coast. She loved going on family camping trips with her children, parents and siblings. Carol also spent many nights playing cards with her friends and family. Carol enjoyed spending time with her family. She made many trips to Winnipeg to see her grandson Brady and spoil him rotten. The opening of the Christmas gifts was a full day event. Carol also traveled east to visit Edmund and Karen and take in events like the Elvis festival in Collingwood. Carol's faith was very important to her and attended St. Patrick's Catholic Church regularly. The family would like to thank the nurses and physicians at the Atikokan General Hospital for taking care of Carol in her final days. We would also like to thank Dr. Chan, Dr. Simpson, and the other physicians and nurses at the cancer centre in Thunder Bay. Carol will be greatly missed by her husband, children, grandchild, brothers, sisters and friends. A Roman Catholic mass took place on Tuesday, August 30, 2011 at St. Patrick's Roman Catholic Church in Atikokan, ON. A service in Winnipeg will take place at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. on Tuesday, September 6, 2011at 11:00 a.m. Carol's final resting place will be in Holy Ghost Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to either the Canadian Cancer Society, Tamarac House (Thunder Bay) or the Atikokan General Hospital. CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 586-8044
