ALAN WILLIAM HILDEBRAND August 1, 1949 - August 30, 2011 After a lengthy, brave battle with cancer, Alan passed away peacefully at Riverview Health Centre, with his beloved wife and children by his side. He was predeceased by his father, Jake, brother Robert, and his mother-in-law Margaret. Left to always cherish his memory, his wife of 41 years, his soul mate Liz (Swan), his children, Clint (Marina), Cheryl, Cam (Cari), Charlene (Rob). His adored grandchildren, Carly, Jacob, Jenna, Kennedy, and Charley. His mother Sally, sisters Carol (Rick), and Lorraine (Murray) as well as many in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Alan was born in Brandon, Manitoba, but grew up and raised his family in Winnipeg. He recently retired from Griffin Canada where he had worked for over 30 years. Dad was at his happiest when he was with his family. He enjoyed nothing more than planning a trip with Mom or with one of his children or grandchildren. Whether it was hiking the Tressels in Kelowna, climbing sleeping giant, or camping in Yellowstone. He would just get back from visiting his grandkids in BC and was planning on when he could go back. Dad was so much more than just father to us, he was our hero, our friend, and traveling companion. To his grandchildren, he was their loving Papa. To his mother, a devoted son. We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the Oncology Dept. at Concordia Hospital and the entire staff at Riverview Health Centre 3E wing. Also, to James Schellenberg for the comfort he provided to us all. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to CancerCare, or a charity of your choice. In following with Dad's wishes, cremation has take place and a private memorial has been held. Funeral Arrangements in care of WHEELER FUNERAL CHAPEL 211 REGENT AVE. WEST AT BOND 224-1525
