MARIA D'ABRAMO (nee CAPRI) October 6, 1919 September 3, 2011 It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Maria D'Abramo on Saturday, September 3, 2011, at the age of 92 years at Riverview Health Centre. Remaining to forever cherish Maria's memory are her husband of 75 years, Emilio D'Abramo; son, Luigi (Maria) D'Abramo; daughter, Angela (Tony) Petrillo; son, Nick (Terry-Lynne) D'Abramo, and daughter, Teresa (Tony) Lamorte; grandchildren, Gino, Emily (Franco), Marianne (Rick), Emily (Brent), Tony, Carinna (Marco), Nicole, Michael, Maria (Nick) and Christina; great-grandchildren, Luciana (Chris), Robbie, Joey, Christopher, Brandon, Jesse, Nicholas and Luca, and great-great-grandchild Anthony. Maria was born in Campochiaro, Italy and came to Canada in 1953. Maria and Emilio worked hard to build their life in Canada; owning a grocery store for many years on Osborne Street. Maria was the heart of our family, and enjoyed many things, such as gardening and playing scopa, but most of all, she was happiest when we were all together. Her joy came from showing us the importance of loving each other, no matter what. Maria was the epitome of kindness, gentle and nurturing to all fortunate enough to have known her. Maria had an unwavering faith in God, and dedicated time every day to pray for the needs of others. The family wishes to thank the many staff and caregivers at Riverview Health Centre and Calvary Place, for their compassion over the past two years. Prayers will be held Wednesday, September 7 at 7:30 p.m. at Holy Rosary Parish, 510 River Avenue. Funeral Mass will be held Thursday, September 8 at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Rosary Parish, with Father Renato Pasinato presiding. Entombment to follow at Holy Angel Mausoleum in Green Acres Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Maria's grandchildren. For those who wish, an alternate to flowers, donations in Maria's memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Society of Manitoba, 10-120 Donald St. Winnipeg, MB R3C 4G2 or to the Canadian Diabetes Association, 200-310 Broadway, Winnipeg, MB R3C 0S6.
