WILLIAM MICHAEL (BILL) HRUSHOVETZ Peacefully on Friday, September 2, 2011, at age 86, our beloved brother, uncle, nephew, cousin, friend and neighbour, Bill, passed away at Deer Lodge Centre after a courageous battle with illness. Bill was born on August 5, 1925 in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, the elder son of Michael Hrushovetz and Mary Shenkarchuk. In 1926, the family moved to a 17-acre property in North Kildonan, Manitoba where Bill lived for more than 80 years. He married his true love, Catherine (Kay) Behun on May 31, 1958. The couple celebrated 42 years of marriage together before Kay's sudden passing in October 2000. Raised in a family of market gardeners, Bill's passion for agriculture spanned a 35-year career as a Seed Analyst with McCabe Grain Company and the Canada Department of Agriculture. He was very active in the community and served as Chairman of the North Kildonan Parks Board. His delicious vegetables and colourful gladiolas garnered many awards at the local fair and Bill and Kay cheerfully shared them with family, friends and neighbours. Bill will be remembered as a kind, hard-working and generous person who enjoyed gardening, sharing stories with family and friends, and driving his vintage John Deere tractors on parade. He is survived by his brother Dr. Semeon B. (Margaret); niece Mary Margaret (Richard) Powrie of Toronto; nephews, Semeon B. Jr. of Calgary and Stephen M. of Winnipeg; uncle Tom (Marlene) Shand; cousins, Alma Acheson and Alvin (Kathy) MacAtavish, and cousins and godchildren across the country. The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to the caring and dedicated staff of the Special Care Unit, 3 West at Deer Lodge Centre and the Charleswood Care Centre. The Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, September 7, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street, Winnipeg. Interment at Brookside Cemetery will follow the reception. Donations in memory of William M. Hrushovetz may be made to a charity of your choice. Lovingly remembered, never forgotten. Rest in peace, Bill. Vichnaya Pam'yat CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 586-8044
