ANDREAS THANNER After a year-long battle with cancer, Andreas (Andy) left us to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 4, 2011. He will be deeply missed by his wife, Hannelore; daughter Katarina Brown (Randy) and granddaughter Lauren; sons, Stefan Kutka and Marek Kutka (Nancy); sister Josephine (Richard); nieces, Christine (Herbert), Gertrud, Lily, Mario (Petra) and Richard Jr.; and sister-in-law Kate (John). Andy was predeceased by his parents, Josef and Barbara; sisters, Anni, Betty and Victoria; and daughter Maria. Andy was born on February 24, 1934, in München, Bayern, Germany, and immigrated to Canada in 1961. Andy was a highly sought after tradesman and carpenter, building and renovating many properties in Winnipeg and throughout Canada. He enjoyed continually improving his home, and helping his family in the same way. Andy had a big heart for animals, giving a warm home to many cats while donating regularly to the Humane Society and other charities. Andy loved his family, always making holidays and gatherings fun. He was passionate about his Bavarian heritage, passing this on to his sons and daughters. Andy loved to travel with his wife, Hannelore, whether it was camping in the Rockies, touring Europe, or sunning himself on the beaches of Mexico. The family would like to thank the dear friends who prayed for Andy, and the many nurses and home care aides who allowed Andy the opportunity to remain at home. In particular, we would like to acknowledge the care and compassion provided by Ola, Marilyn, Pauline, Valerie, Nancy, Dr. I. Mohammed and his wife, Linda, and Dr. Garcia. Andy's life will be celebrated at a mass at St. Alphonsus Church, 341 Munroe Ave., on Saturday, September 10 at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society. Pfüat Di Gott, Andy. Arrangements entrusted to: KLASSEN FUNERAL HOME 1897 Henderson Hwy. - 338-0331 Send expressions of sympathy at www.mem.com.
