Blythe was born in Boissevain, MB on April 25, 1927. He started work with Manitoba Telephone System in 1943 and had a long and dedicated career taking him to Melita, Thompson, Brandon, and Winnipeg. He was a very dedicated and loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend. His talents and patience were evident in his many interests such as photography and stained glass. He also loved gardening, barbecuing gorgeous meals for his family, and reading. He was proud of his community service as evidenced in his roles as president of the Telephone Pioneers and the Brandon Agency of Big Brother. He was also very involved in the Masonic Lodge, Shriners, Toastmasters, and Rotary Clubs. He will be greatly missed by his children: Lynne (Stuart), Wayne (Linda), Roy (Karena), and his treasured grandchildren: Ryan, Matthew, Lara, Neil, Codey, Allison, Meghan and Thomas. Blythe was predeceased by his wife Fern and daughter Jan. The family would like to thank the staff at the West Park Manor for their compassionate care. In keeping with Blythe's wishes there will be no formal funeral service. A graveside memorial will take place in Melita, Manitoba at a later date. Arrangements in care of Redpath Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Society, West Park Manor, or a charity of your choice.
