IRENE M. YULE (nee CROOKSHANKS) Peacefully, on Friday, September 9, 2011, Irene Yule of Stonewall passed away at her residence in Lions Manor at the age of 99 years. Irene was born in Stonewall, July 4, 1912, third child of Samuel and Emily Crookshanks. Survived by daughters, Linda McGill (Wayne Morton), and Norma (John) Melnichuk; grandchildren, Jay McGill, James McGill, Greg (Ann) Melnichuk and Robyn (Christian) Jones; six great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her infant son (1946); husband, Alexander (1993); brother, Robert, and sisters, Marion, Claire, and Doris. Irene was a lifelong resident of Stonewall, and became very active with Stonewall United Church, where she taught Sunday School for many years, the Acadia Rebekah Lodge, Tecumseh 4-H Sewing Club as leader, and volunteering her time with any organization that needed help. Family meant everything to Mom, hosting many family dinners and picnics at the farm. She and Dad travelled widely until he passed away. At the manor, she had many friends, and would often take a car full for dinner and a drive. Visits from her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were always a highlight. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, September 14 at 2:00 p.m. at the Stonewall United Church. Rev. Leonard Oracheski will officiate. Internment will take place in the Stonewall Cemetery. Pallbearers will be: Jay McGill, James McGill, Greg Melnichuk, Christian Jones, Gordon Grist and Ken Yule. If friends so desire, memorial donations may be made to a charity of one's choice.
