AGNES DOREEN SOMMERFIELD Peacefully, on September 9, 2011, at West Park Manor Care Home, Mom passed away. Mom was born in Mor, Austria on May 1, 1921. She moved to Canada when she was six years old and lived in Elrose, Saskatchewan. She came to Winnipeg for a visit, where she met and fell in love with Edward Sommerfield, the first time she saw him. They were married when he was just 19 and she was 20. Dad passed away in 2005. Mom always loved being around children, and her grandchildren always loved to see her. Mom was the happiest when everyone was home for dinner. She also loved spending time at their cottage at Falcon Lake. Mom raised a wonderful family of seven children. She leaves to mourn her passing children, Carol (Jim Tomes), Ken (Diane Carter), late Colleen, Roy (Cheryl), Don (Alison), Cathy (Ron Kidd), Kevin (Leslie) and Mark; as well as 16 grandchildren, Mark, Jennifer, Tiffany, late Kyla, Leah, Chad, Tyler, Kelly, Carly, Chelsey, Brittany, Dustin, Tanya, Devin, Randi, Samantha; along with seven great-grandchildren, and special friends, Sheldon and Charlene Howe, as well as many nieces and nephews. A special thanks to the West Park Manor staff that lovingly cared for Agnes over the last five years. Cremation has taken place. A private service and burial will take place at the Chapel Lawn Cemetery.
