DOLPHIE CONSTANTINE ROBERTS It is with profound regret that we announce the passing of Dolphie, age 78 years on Friday, September 9, 2011. He died peacefully at Riverview Health Centre. His wife Millicent, son Loxie and wife Sharon, grandchildren Breanne and Janae, brother Grandville and wife Thelma (US), nieces Ina (Jamaica) and Carlene (US), as well as other relatives and friends are left to mourn his passing. In 1956 Dolphie left Jamaica for England where he met and married Millicent in 1965. He immigrated to Canada in 1968 and worked at Greensteel Industries until his retirement. He was President and Treasurer of The Afro-Caribbean Association of Manitoba Incorporated (ACAM) and Co-ordinator for The Afro Caribbean Pavilion in Folklorama. He was also Financial Assessor for the Jamaican Honorary Consulate at Winnipeg and received the Badge of Honour from the Government of Jamaica for meritorious service to the community. He was an usher at the Broadway Disciples United Church. Funeral Service will take place at The Broadway Disciples United Church, 396 Broadway Avenue at 12 noon on Saturday, September 17, 2011 with Reverend Dr. Raymond Cuthbert and Reverend Henry Falconer officiating. Viewing will take place at the church prior to the service. Interment will take place following the service at Chapel Lawn Cemetery, 4000 Portage Avenue. The family would like to thank Dr. James Sutherland, Dr. Ian Maxwell, Dr. Edward St. Godard and the staff at the Riverview Health Centre Palliative Care Unit and others who visited Dolphie. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the charity of their choice. Neil Bardal Inc. in charge of arrangements.
